- This shows Amal showing how her life isn't fair and fighting and letting her anger out to Asif. This is the first time Amal has been able to express her feelings. The setting shows them in the literacy center, and her venting out.
- "But life isn't fair! I will be a servant for the rest of my life because I spoke back to the wrong person. I will be indebted to him my entire life. All my dreams are gone because one person has the power to crush them"(Saeed 192).
- This picture shows Amal's bravery to go and tell her teacher the information she just gathered. This picture is them finding information about the victim, that Jawad Sahib killed. This supports the theme because she is about to fight for justice and her rights.
- I know someone. My teacher. His father is a lawyer. He'll know who to get the information to"(Saeed 207)
- "As his personal servant I know more than I wish I did. He buried the guy by the third tree past the Minawala sign"(Saeed 206)
- "But who do we tell this information to?"(Saeed 206)

- Asif tells Amal she is brave and is doing the right thing, Asif will tell his father and see if things changed. This seen indicates when she is in the school with Asif. After Amal tells Asif Jawad Sahib gets arrested.
