- After joining Barnado and Francisco, Horatio and Marcellus were frightened by a ghost. Because of his clothes, they believe the ghost to be Old Hamlet
- Ophelia

- Everyone gets convinced by King Claudius that marrying Gertrude is acceptable. Then, Claudius says that he received a letter from Fortinbras requesting that Denmark return the area that Old Hamlet won. After that, Claudius and Gertrude ask why Hamlet is angry. Later, Hamlet declares that he hopes he could pass away because of his marriage.

- Laertes tells his sister Ophelia to keep away from Hamlet as he gets ready to leave for France. Ophelia begs him to follow his own advise

- Lord Chamberlain arrives shortly after and gives Laertes a long piece of instruction on how to behave. When Laertes is allowed to leave, he asks Ophelia what she and Laertes were discussing. He hears from Ophelia about her romance with Hamlet.
- Hamlet, Horatio, and Marcellus keep guard on the cold walls. Meanwhile, Hamlet didn't go to the party that is taking place in the castle. When the ghost finally appears, he calls Hamlet to follow in his footsteps.
- Claudius murdered King Hamlet, according to the ghost, . Hamlet is seeking revenge on Claudius for his murder and for marrying Gertrude, according to the ghost.
