- Hello Everyone! My name is Darrell Lim and I am very excited to partake in this class. I believe it has great potential in the future of pedagogy.
- When I’m not teaching or developing my curriculum further, I am doing yard or house work. I haven’t had too much free time lately, but I enjoy when I do. I also like playing airsoft when I can. It’s like a cleaner and less-painful version of paintballing.
- I initially thought this class would be on game theory and how that would blend with education. But, I feel that I might be reading the course title the wrong way. So my first question is if this course talk about game theory in any case (I suppose I can find out this week eventually!).
- I want to study this topic because I truly do believe gamification of courses will be used more widespread in the future. I feel that motivation on a topic, aside from the pure motivation from learning something new, is the most effective way to learn and retain. I kind of already have some very simple form of “gamification” in my teaching that I am known for: side quests. I solve physics problems with main quests and side quests. Ask me about them!
