- The Mayans build temples/pyramids for the deities and gods they worshipped. They also build them for the rulers resting place when they are no longer in the living world.
- According to the Mayan legends, it is said that the temple was created in the span of a night by a child prodigy who became ruler of the land.
- But, in actuality, it would take around 300 years to create a temple.
- A fact about the temple pyramids is that Mayans would stack more stone on previous temple pyramids to indicate a new ruler.
- Mayan artist often carved images based on their religion. They also depict divine being and animals on stelae's, which are vertical stone structures, to demonstrate their extradentary artistry.
- When the structure is complete the Mayans can start to give offers and rituals to the deities/gods
