- The Logan family live in Mississippi 30 years before the civil rights movement. Cassie is 9 Stacey is almost 13 Christopher-john is 8, and little man is 6. The Logan children live with big ma and mama on 400 acres while papa works at the railroad.
- CLIMAX
- The Logan and other African American families are targeted by white families but the Logan family takes a stand. Harlan Granger wants the land the Logans own because it once was Granger land. The Wallace brothers let kids drink and smoke in the back of there store.
- FALLING ACTION
- T.J. cheats and Stacey gets the blame and they have a fight at the Wallace store. the Logan and other families boycott the Wallace store with the backing of a Lawyer named Jamison. The Wallaces find out about the boycott and fire mama.
- RESOLUTION
- T.J. and the simm boys break into a shop and hurt the owners. T.J. demands they take him home immediately or he'll tell. The Simm boys refuse and hurt and abandon T.J..
- T.J. goes to Stacey for help but refuses to tell Stacey what happened for a while. T.J. finally tells Stacey, and Stacey helps get him home with his siblings. once they drop T.J. off Stacey insists they all stay to make sure everything is fine.
- The Logan children watch as the Simm and Wallace brothers attack the Avery house looking for T.J.. Stacey sends Cassie and the younger children back home for papa. papa goes out to the field with Mr. Morrison and to get Stacey and papa sets the field o fire to help T.J..
