- Im a farmer and in the south its warm, sunny, and we have good soil. Most of us rely on farming, trading and owning slaves. Here we grow cash crops like cotton, tobacco, sugar and rice. But after the cotton gin was invented cotton became the most grown crop. Now were called the cotton belt.
- Hey im new to the south can you tell me about what the land is like?
- Im new so the south can you tell me where the railroads are?
- Actually in the south we don't use railroads and were not really building railroads like in the north. We use waterways. So in the south we transport goods and we travel along rivers to get us and our goods to where they need to go. So most of the big cities are next to rivers to make it easier. Traveling by water is also cheaper.
- Im the north and we generally like the tariffs on imported goods because it makes the south want to buy products from us instead of a different state
- Im the south and we don't like the tariffs on imported goods because we think if it will make our trade partners like the British raise prices so we cant buy cheap from them anymore. Importing and exporting goods its a big part of our economy!
