- Dr. Heidegger invites four friends over to partake in an experiment. Mr. Medbourne, a once prosperous merchant, Colonnel Killigrew, a man who indulged in sin in his glory days, Mr. Gascoigne, an obscure politician, and Widow Wycheryl, a once beautfil and scandalous woman
- Dr. Heidegger's lab had many wonders within itself, ranging from a bronze statue and to a mirror that holds the souls of the doctors dead patients. Supposedly one of the most questionable tales is of the fabled black book.
- Dr. Heidegger's experiment is for his friends to try his water that is supposedly from the fountain of youth . He had shown them the affect on some withered roses with general skepticism from the group. Magic they thought for something so old to bloom.
- The group was amazed at the results, they had become younger despite their skepticism. Growing greedy they demanded more to become younger. Wycheryl, had her beauty once again, and the colonel surely noticed. She had see for herself in the mirror.
- In their newly acquired they started to fester around the beautiful widow. They all threatened and shoved each other in reprise, until they spilled the water to the floor, their youth on the floor.
- In time Dr. Heidegger's rose had grown to fade, and with it, his guest had grown old too. He had learned it to be delirious to mask his age, be it the few moments they had or years. He is above the mask of youth. His contemporaries however learned naught, and seek to find this fountain of youth.
