- Stanley got wrongly accused of stealing some expensive shoes and gets sent to Camp Green Lake.He jokes around saying it was all thanks to his family curse and blames his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig stealing-great-great-grandfather.While in camp,the kids are forced to dig holes everyday in the hot sun.They do it to "build character."

- Stanley's family got cursed when his great-great-grandfather,Elya Yelnats,didn't complete his part of the promise with an old gypsy woman called Madam Zeroni.They agreed that he would carry her up a mountain and sing to her while she drinks the water thats up the mountain
- Resolution
- While being in Camp Green Lake,Stanley meets someone who everyone calls Zero,and they make a deal,Stanley teaches him how to read while Zero digs part of his hole.That is where Stanley found out about Zero's real name,Hector Zeroni.The counselors found out about their deal and forced them to stop doing it,in that moment Zero hits Mr.Pendanski,one of the counselors and runs away,this makes Stanley worried and also runs away trying to find him.
- Denouement
- While walking through the desert,he finds a strange object sitting in the open,Stanley goes and investigates and finds Zero below the object that was an upside downed boat,they eat something Zero called Sploosh.While Stanley was trying to convince Zero to go back to camp,he notices a mountain that seemed like it was giving the thumbs up sign,then he told Zero about it and it also seemed like the thumbs up sign to Zero so they decided to climb the mountain,just like Stanley's great grandfather did when he got stranded in the desert by Kissin' Kate Barlow,a woman who stole his treasure.He called the mountain "God's thumb" and there is where he found refuge.
- While climbing the mountain,Zero started to feel bad because of the Sploosh and couldn't walk.Stanley then continued to carry Zero up the mountain,and when he found water,he started to sing his family song.By doing that,he accidentally broke the family curse by completing the promise his great grandfather couldn't complete because he carried Madam Zeroni's great-great-grandchild up the mountain and sang to him.Zero and Stanley also found onions and by eating them,Zero got better.When he got better,Stanley suggested they should go down the mountain and dig up his hole,if they where gonna leave they would need money,where could they find money? By diging up Stanley's hole to get to the treasure Kissin Kate Barlow stole.
- When they got down the mountain they waited till dawn to go dig up the hole.Once it was dawn they digged and digged and found the treasure,when they found the treasure though,the Warden and the counselors caught them and where about to steal it back until they saw yellow spotted lizards,so they decided to wait until they got bitten,but in that moment,Stanley's lawyer came to get him back and saw everything that had happened.They arrested the counselors,Zero and Stanley got back home,and splitted the money.Zero bought some private investigators and found his mom,and Stanley was able to buy a brand new house with a laboratory in the basement.And by breaking the curse,Stanley's family is now lucky and where able to make their own big experiment that got called Sploosh and Green Lake turned into a Girl Scout's Camp.
