- Both prophet's were active during the time of King Jeroboam II of Israel and of King Uzziah of Judah during the eighth century B.C.E. .
- Amos
- Hosea warned the people for nearly forty years that the people of Israel were in a spiritual decline that would soon lead to their destruction if the did not repent and turned back to God
- With Hosea, God took a different approach He conveyed His anger and personal heartbreak into something that they could understand. Even though His compassion and faithfulness seem too good to be true, God reminded them that He was still compassionate and would tell them that He still loved them.
