- Susie begins the narration by retelling her last moments of being alive by starting offSusie Salmon, upon entering a cornfield, would encounter the primary villain of the story who'd go by the name of George Harvey
- Susie explains how she was subsequently killed raped by her neighbour this story's main antagonist, George Harvey, (or as he's referred to as Mr. Harvey in the story), which would lead to her spirit emerging from her body. This will set the path for the rising conflict factor, and the rest of the narrative would unwind.
- The Rising action begins around the point where the father of the Salmon family (Jack Salmon), begins to suffer the pain of losing a loved one (in this case it's Susie). The implications of this death further exacerbate his urge to find her killer (which is amplified through the messages Susie was attempting to send him
- The Climax of the plot is presented to the viewer whenever Lindsey has had enough and decides to break into Mr. Harvey's house, in order to find evidence of him being the murderer (Which she's able to find). This however doesn't please Abigail, (the wife of Jack), as she's already objected Jack's obsessions with Harvey. This is why she subsequently announces that she'll picking up Buckley and leaving the salmon household.

- The falling action of this story can be exhibited through the experience between Ray Susie, in which she obtained from possessing Ruth's body. This acts as prove that the concept of love takes precedence over any other condition in the end. this can further be demonstrated through Jack's love for Susie never thwarted him from searching for answers.
- Jack Abigail eventually fix their marriage ( after having to deal with their hostile indifferences over Mr. Harvey), Lindsey Samuel become married, Buckley reconciles with his mom, Ray gets expertise in being a doctor, and Susie establishes eternal happiness after letting go of Earth. This part of the story acts as a reprise, it helps tie in all of the increments of the plot, and confirm a resolve to the issues within this creative narrative.
