- Katie and her friends had spent part of their class in the bathroom. They were planning on just hanging out until one of Katie's friends pulled out a vape. Katie - who had never smoked before - witnessed as one of her friends took a hit of the vape. She was scared that she would get in trouble and despite her protests, her friends insisted that she was fine.
- Think about morals and virtues
- She had a few options. One of them was to walk out and tell a teacher or the security that there were girls smoking in the bathroom. Then, there was the easiest option: she could walk out of the bathroom, pretend nothing even happened and put her friends at risk of getting caught themselves. The final option was to just stay in the bathroom and possibly get caught and fall down with them.
- Make a decision
- If she stays in the bathroom, there still is a chance that she'd get caught and all of her friends and her would be escorted to the dean's office. She certainly didn't want to get her friends in trouble either.
- Evaluate decision
- I made a pretty good decision today
- It is against her ethical values to smoke, and she didn't want to get in trouble herself.
- I don't want to snitch on my friends, I think it would be best for me to just walk away.
- She decided to go to her class and pretend nothing happened, it may have not been the best choice, but as long as she was following her gut, she thought that she should be fine.
- As she was walking home, she thought about her previous decision. Her friends didn't get caught, and she was grateful, but there may be a time they do come in and catch them doing something their not supposed to.
