- The Louisiana Purchase happened when France sold their land to the U.S. Doubling their size. But this led to border issues between Spain and the U.S. They eventually solved the issues with the Adams-Onis treaty.

- Mexico was unhappy with the way Spain was treating them. They felt that they were being overly taxed. Also Mexico felt that Spain wasn't spending them the resources they needed. The lower class also had the worse jobs and were treated like slaves.

- Father Miguel Hidalgo is a priest who wanted to end the power of the peninsulares. The lower classes rose in great numbers to join his revolt to free them from Spain. Later Father Miguel Hidalgo was shot by the Spaniards, and it killed him.

- We need a new king and a constitution.
- Filibusters would pretending to be working for a country, for their benefit. They would do it for money, land, and power. They do it till the Spain finds out, and killed them and the people who work with them.

- Jose Bernardo Gutierrez de lara and Augustus Magee came together and created the Republican Army to free Texas and Mexico from the Spanish. The Republican Army was doing good they defeated Nacogdoches and Goliad. Spanish gave up and retreated to San Antonio. The leaders declared independence for Texas, Until they went into San Antonio and lost.

- in 1822, General Iturbide took all power declaring himself Emperor. But the Mexican people were unhappy, and thought he was going to treat them like the last King they had. So they Created the Constitution of 1824. Where Mexico became a republic and elected their leaders.
