- Advertisements like the "Millions of Acres" advertisement change the movement of goods, ideas, and people because they are trying to get people to settle in the place that they are advertising.

- Land has also been changed for transportation purposes, like in these pictures, where the land has been flattened so roads and railroads can be paved or laid down also changes the land use so transporting goods and people is easier.

- Changes in technology also change how land is being used because one day, that open plot of land in your town could be a coal power plant, the next, it could be a nuclear power plant because of new technological advances can change that open plot of land.

- This is what happened to some of the lands that looked like the "Millions of Acres" advertisement because deforestation happened and caused the dirt get washed away and made some farmlands to be flooded by nearby rivers.
- The environment has also been impacted by land use because people have been throwing garbage in places where garbage shouldn't be and it has polluted the river and made it so animals can't drink it and they could get stuck and/or hurt by the litter.
