  • Thank you, everyone. This was an amazing last show!
  • The trailer begins with a wide shot, allowing the audience to see the protagonist as well as a series of characters performing, which conveys the spectacle of the film. We can obtain an understanding of the characters' feelings and emotional states through the shot and establish the scene. In this scene, the performers and P.T. Barnum are enjoying entertaining the audience, in the location of a theatre. Their expressions appear to be enthusiastic and cheerful as they perform with exhilarating excitement. The neutral angle is used to connect the audience emotionally with the character. Bright lighting helps to reinforce a magical atmosphere, where anything is possible. The music provides a sense of reminiscing and nostalgia. The soft-focus lens is used to reinforce a dream-like quality for the audience.

  • We can see a point of view shot of the performers and P.T. Barnum. This allows the viewers to develop empathy with the character. Panning is used to immediately show the audience's reaction to the show. The lighting remains bright to portray a jovial atmosphere but the sharp focus is now used to make the shot appear realistic and clear in contrast to the previous dream-like scene. We can see the acclaim and appreciation the performers are receiving from the audience, demonstrating the popularity of the show. Synchronous sound is used as the audience is seen shouting and cheering many wonderful remarks toward the performers in the scene.

  • A close-up shot is used to convey P.T. Barnum's joy and admiration for the show he created. The audience can see the emotions expressed due to the shot. Non-synchronous sound is used as we can still hear the audience clapping but not view it. A dolly to push in is used to alter the focal distance of the lens to give the illusion of moving closer to the subject. It gives the viewer a sense of being in the same space as the subject and makes the viewer feel a certain intimacy with a character, or feel more present in the scene. The lighting is low-key to convey the contrast between light and dark in the scene. Through the speech bubble, the audience can convey that this is P.T. Barnum’s last show. Even though it is disappointing P.T. Barnum is still overjoyed as he knows his legacy will live on.
  • A fade-in and fade-out are used to demonstrate the time passing from the performance to the current scene. The lighting remains low-key to draw attention to the subject. In the scene, P.T. Barnum is discussing the delight he has received from the circus but now it is his daughters' turn to achieve their dreams. A medium shot is applied to show the body language and facial expression of the character. Through the shot, we can perceive the happiness his daughters feel in contributing to the show as well as the pride Barnum expresses.
  • The scene begins with the renowned song from the first movie “The Greatest Show”. This reinforces the eminence of the extraordinary show. We can also see P.T. Barnum’s daughters performing in the circus. This demonstrates how his legacy will live on and people will continue to enjoy the ever-changing experience of Barnum’s Circus. The lighting is bright again to portray imminent happiness. One of his daughters is shown performing ballet, which conveys her achieving her dream. The other daughter is controlling the show while wearing a red dress, which symbolise power and passion. Through this last scene, the viewer can see the pleasure experienced, as unique performers showcase their talents.
