All three estates met in Versailles to voice grievances and vote on whether or not there should be economic change 
There was the third estate, the lowest class and those who made up the majority of the French population. They were upset by the estate-basd wealth discrepancy existing in France at the time. 
The second estate, nobility who benefited from the wealth discrepancy and were happy the current way of doing things. And finally the first estate, clergy, who also benefitted and from the current method. 
The third estate voiced their grievances...
We're living in extreme poverty while you have money to burn! We need change!
and eventually the estates... 
...put it to a vote
Let's vote!
But, because the second and first estates benefitted from the current system, they both voted to keep it.
Since each estates vote counted as one, regardless of the number of people it represented, the second and first estate outvoted the third 2-to-1. 
The third estate was upset by these events and this vote led up to the tennis court oath. THE END
