  • Manor Farm
  • The Big Barn
  • Comrades, I called you here to share my dream, but before that, I have something to tell you all. I will die soon, so I have decided to share my wisdom with you all. Now, Lets face it, our lives are miserable. The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth.
  • Mr. Jones of the Manor Farm, drunk, locked the hen house for the night but forgot to shut the pop holes. He lurched across the yard, kicked off his boots, got his last cup of beer, and went to sleep.
  • But this, comrades is not simply part of the order of nature! Is it because this land of ours is so poor that it cannot afford a decent life to those who dwell upon it? No, a thousand times no!The soil is fertile, the climate is good, it is capable of affording food in abundance. We could be living lavishly. but we can't because nearly half of our labours produce, is stolen by the humans. Therefore, We must remove humans.
  • Word had gone around during the day that old major, the prized Middle White Boar, had had a strange dream the previous night and wished to talk about it to the others. They were all to meet up in the big barn as soon as Mr. Jones went to bed.
  • Man, is the only creature that consumes without producing. They neither give milk nor eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough and cant run fast to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, and back to them the bare minimum to them from starving, the rest he keeps for himself. Even the lives we lead are not allowed to reach their natural span. What must we do then? Rebellion!
  • The 3 dogs, 2 horses, mare, donkey, baby ducks, hens, cats, goat, pigs, pigeons and so on...arrived and settled down, Old Major, on a sort of raised platform, began his speech
  • Rebellion will come, it might be in a week or in a hundred years, but know, that sooner or later justice will be done. Remember, your resolution must never falter. All men are enemies. All animals are comrades. We must never come to resemble man. All animals are equal. Now i will tell you my dream. My dream was of a world where there was no man. This dream reminded me of a song long forgotten called 'Beast of England' I shall now sing it for you all.
  • Old major continued to talk about how they're misery simply part of the order of nature, but instead caused by human beings, and how humans only consume and do not produce.
  • Old major continues to express that they must rebel to survive.
  • Beasts of England, beasts of Ireland,Beasts of every land and cliRiches more than mind can picture,Wheat and barley, oats and hay......The animals, excited, started to sing along
