- In France, there were 3 times of estates (classes). The first estate (high-ranking of church) second estate (nobles) and third estate (everyone else). The third estate needed to pay taxes for almost everything but the other estates didn't pay taxes but the third estate didn't like this.

- King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette spend a lot of money on things unsevered. While they pay all the money from the taxes they run out of money so they started to increase the taxes on the third estate the town was needed money.

- On May 5, 1789, Louis calls all of the estates to solve France's financial crisis. There were representatives for each estate present. Each state had only one vote. They were voting if they want to pay taxes, but it was unfair because the first and second vote for no paying. The representative from the third estate demanded that voting be by population. At the end they did accomplish this so the third estate decided to creat a new constitution fro France.

- King Louis XVI didn't like this idea of the written constitution so he want to use military force but his plan reach Paris on July 14, 1789, so the third estate decided to attack first. That day become France's Independence Day. So then in August they creat the Declaration on the Rights of Man.

- Under the National Assembly, France becomes a limited monarchy which limits the king's power and church. Now, all special privileges of the first and second estate were abolished. The new government was unsuccessful because the royal family ask for help from Austria, the nobles helped that with foreign help the royal family will be restored, so a political party that had different interests developed.
- A group (The Convention) takes over and destroys the monarchy and kills the royal family by Maximilien, does that resisted the revolution were beheaded also by Maximilien, after many months the Convention had enough of this and beheaded Maximilien. Now the Constitution creates a new government (The Directory) which does not work either. Napoleon eventually take over. He spread ideas of equality of all citizens, this idea spreads through Europe. They take down the king of pain and put hos brother on the throne.
