The Golden Age of Greece was known all through this time. In the Battle of Salamis which was September 480 BC, the Greek navy had only about 220 ships, causing it to be outnumbered, versus the Persian navy with about 1,200. The Battle of Salamis created a turning point in Greek history since Xerxes was unable to defeat Greece without his navy.
