- In Camelot, it was Christmas, and everyone celebrated by feasting and imbibing in the court. Sir Gawain agrees to join the game when a man who resembles a green giant and is mounted on a solid green steed suddenly enters.
- Gawain chops off the Green Knight's head and the knight tells him to find him in a year so that he could do the same to Gawain.
- *kiss on cheek*
- By December of the following year, Gawain has arrived at a castle where he is told that they are aware of the location of the Green Knight and that he is welcome to stay until the right moment to confront him.
- King Bertilak offers shelter to Gawain and they have a wager. But when Bertilak leaves for the hunt, his wife makes some advances toward Gawain.
- While he was there, the lord and he made a pact that they would give each other what they have gained at the end of the day. This went on for 3 days, Gawain gained kisses and the Lord gained animals. On the last day, Gawain broke the deal and kept a green belt instead of giving it to the Lord
- After the 3 days are up, the Lord showed Gawain how to get to the Green knight. Now completing the challenge, the knight swings 3 times at Sir Gawain. The first 2 times he does not hurt Sir Gawain, but the 3rd time he made a small cut. The moral of the story is revealed and Sir Gawain leaves for Camelot in shame.
