  • Hi Leilani, thank you, I am so happy to be here!
  • Today we have a veeeery special guest with us, here to share HIS personal experience with today’s hot topic: Gonorrhea.
  • Welcome to “Opening Up” Where we tackle the nitty gritty, and answer YOUR public health questions!
  • Hi Franky, long time no see
  • You as well Jaime, it's been a long time.
  • We have a very special program for you Franky, we will be working with your previous sexual partners to find out “Who is the Carrrrrier”!
  • First we have your ex boyfriend Jaime Vaca.
  • Now that we understand this basic concept, I believe we should start by asking Jaime some questions about his sexual habits. What has your journey as a gay man looked like?
  • First, it is important to understand that gay men are already at a disadvantage when it comes to contracting Gonorrhea. This is because the lack of research, education and exposure within our society to gay communities. Also the pressure and stress gay men feel can add to this risk.
  • Jaime, as you know, Franky has tested positive for Gonorrhea, a bacterial infection that can cause discomfort and in some cases infertility. Because of the harm this STI can cause Franky, we feel obligated in helping him understand how he contracted the disease and providing him with information to protect him in future encounters.
  • When I came out to my parents they were very against who I was and did not treat me very well. However, over the past couple of years I have helped them adjust to this change and show them more and more of who I really am.
  • I started to figure out that I was gay around my fourteenth birthday when I was waching a YouTube video and I saw two men kissing. My parents are both from Ecuador and I grew up in southern California.
  • Due to where my parents are from, I never knew that it was possible for a man to hold sexual feelings towards another man until highschool. Even in highschool, I was never taught how gay sex differs from straigth sex. Because of these factors I did not come out until I was 20.
