- Saul, Saul, why are you#160;persecuting me? I am Jesus who you are#160;#160;persecuting.
- St Paul was born in Tarcus, Cicilia, in modern-day southeastern Turkey. He was Roman citizen by birthright as his parents were.
- Jesus, our messiah!
- Saul ( St Paul's Hebrew name) leads a violent persecution of Jerusalem's young Christian Church, dragging men and women out of their homes to prison. When believers were found guilty of 'blasphemy', he stones them to death. He also persecuted Jewish followers of Jesus in foreign cities.#160;
- Saul set off to Damascus to persecute more Christians. Suddenly he was blinded by a bright light. When Saul rose from the ground he was blind. A man Ananias went to Saul and told him he had been filled with the Holy Spirit. Saul regained his sight, was baptised then began to preach about Jesus in the synagogues of Damascus.
- In Damascus, Saul spent several days with the disciples. He preached in synagogues about Jesus, the Son of God. Because of this, he was in danger of being killed, and so escaped to Jerusalem in a basket.
- A group of Hebraic Jewish believers from Jerusalem arrive in Antioch. They begin to teach the new Gentile believers that they must be circumcised as Jewish converts.
- Paul fiercely disagrees with the Jewish believers, so Barnabas and himself report their missionary activity among the Gentiles. With a Gentile believer, Titus, they travel through Phoenicia and Samaria and are greeted by the apostles and leaders in Jerusalem.
