  • Invasion!
  • I need ships for all my housecarls!
  • Marching North
  • Its a good thing I’m a housecarl
  • Oops! I made a mistake!
  • Harald Hardrada wants to invade England because he wants to become king. He’s going to attack from the North.
  • The Real Battle!
  • Marching north, Harold Godwinson had 7,000-15,000 but he had fryd units who weren’t professionally trained (unlike how Harald Hardrada had professionally trained housecarls) but were recruited on the way so he was able to get ready quickly and marched about 180 miles in 4 days. Later stopping at Tadcaster to rest his soldiers.
  • Say bye bye to Hardrada!
  • Harald Hardrada made 2 mistakes that he probably regretted. 1st misktake is that he left he left his armour on the ships which was a terrible mistake because then they won’t stand as long as they could’ve with their armour. The 2nd mistake is that they were scattered, meaning it was easier to take them by surprise and the other units wouldn’t know what was happening around them.
  • Celebrate! Nevermind
  • Harold Gonwinson
  • Stamford Bridge was where the real battle happened. The fryd units were in big trouble when they saw the houscarls rushing towards them. But a brave Anglo Saxon stepped in with his long axe and held off the English until he got killed from a person under the bridge with a spear and the fryd were quite strong with a formation they had built called the shield wall.
  • Hardrada died while cheering his soldiers on. He took and arrow to throat and because Hardrada died this caused his soldiers to lose. The formation broke and the English succeeded.
  • They were going to celebrate but they got bad news 3 days later. William Duke of Normandy was 270 miles to the south.
