- The snakes enter a new territory and are prone to predation.
- Because of this, the population decreases.
- As the snakes slowly reproduce, randomly, one of the offspring produced is differently colored.
- When the predator approaches, it doesn't eat it because the snake seems to be venomous.
- This happens because of genetic drift. One random mutation can give an organism the advantage towards survival and reproduction.
- As time goes on and the snake reproduces, the snake evolves to adapt to its environment. The population then increases because the snakes are being eaten less by predators.
