- The Senate creates a special command, consisting of Julius Caesar and Crassus to keep Pompey from becoming too powerful.

- When the Senate decides the special command is no longer necessary, Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey form The First Triumvirate
- Crassus is murdered during a battle in Parthia, and the first triumvirate falls.
- Pompey joins the Senate in opposing Caesar. Caesar, however, marches on the senatorial army and Pompey's army, eventually reigning victorious.
- Caesar deems Rome incapable of controlling such a large empire without a dictatorship or monarchy. However, when he begins to form one, he is stabbed 23 times and murdered by 60 members of the Senate.

- Octavian, later renamed Augustus by the Senate, is Caesars adoptive son, and succeeds him following his death.
