  • World Hunger, the deadliest villain of all!
  • The right to eat is a basic human right!
  • Who cares kid? I am Hunger, the most powerful villain on the planet. I can hurt one in nine people on the planet each and every day.
  • Systemic Inequality and Economic Disparity
  • Get up kid! You have work to do! My job is to keep the cycle of hunger going and going!
  • The planet does produce enough food to feed all seven billion people. I make sure it is not evenly distributed.
  • Causes of Hunger
  • I create conflict and insecurity, climate change, and disasters so people stay hungry.
  • My power extends beyond just limiting people's access to food. 
  • I can trap generations of people into poverty!
  • An estimated 821 million people were malnourished in 2017. 98% of the world's hungry live in developing countries. 500 million live in Asia and the Pacific and 243 live in sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Enter Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and harvest
  • World hunger is a dangerous foe! Lucky for the world I have my utility belt which is our only hope stopping world hunger.
  • 149 million children under the age of five are chronically undernourished.
  • Access to Credit
  • This credit card will help get you loan so you can create an industry like a farm. Access to credit is a way out of poverty.
  • People in poverty spend 60-80% of their income on food. This often forces the to prioritize feeding their family over basic needs or long-term goals like education. Conflict and insecurity is a primary driver of hunger. Climate change creates weather shocks that also impacts hunger. Soaring temperatures and shifting patterns in rainfall have a negative effect on crops and livestock, which in turn affects food security and nutrition.
  • Food Donations
  • Change doesn't happen overnight. Here is some food to keep you going until I combat the other underlying causes of hunger.
  • Farmers need to learn techniques that do not hurt the land, decrease agricultural run-off, save water, prevent pollution of rivers and lakes, and maintain soil fertility. We also need to encourage them to plant more nutritious crops that include fruits and vegetables.

  • World hunger tries to trap people into cycles of poverty. I can help you transition from poverty to independence.
  • Urban Farming
  • Many have been led to believe that hunger just affects developing countries.
  • In reality, urban environments are also affected by hunger.
  • Access to Education
  • Here is a book from my utility belt. It is one of my biggest weapons because education is the key to breaking the cycle of hunger.

  • Even though I am a goddess, I do have weaknesses. I am still just one person.

  • Social change comes from communities coming together to stop systemic injustices.
  • This one is the hardest one and I don't have a tool on my tool belt to fix this problem.

  • People need to convince government institutions to intervene and provide programs to help the undernourished.

  • There is a direct correlation between hunger and gender inequality.
  • We need to change patriarchal societies that do not allow women to provide and earn money.Women need access to resources.
