  • In 1989 as her career hit, her song "Like a Prayer" came out just like many of her ideologies were seen "radical" at the time. The music video consisted of interacial relationships, sexual innuendos, and a mix on religious ideologies to the point where the Pope had an issue with it. This was her ticket to stardom.
  • Madonna was killing it by challenging the normalities of her audience. She wanted to push those boundaries.
  • Madonna was known for many controversial performances such as making Nazi hand signals when in France or while she was in Russia, she spoke out on her support to the LGBT and was landed a lawsuit for a whopping 10 million dollars for speaking on her opinions. She was also promoting homosexuality to minors as well.
  • "Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse."
  • During Billboard Women in Music Awards in 2016, she struck the audience with the underlying truth of sexism in the music industry with this opening statement being made:
  • She went on in the speech to mention , "If you're a girl, you have to play the game... you're allowed to be cute and sexy but not smart". She let out the ugly truth about the industry's hate for women empowerment. Madonna really showed her passion and controversial-ness to the public.
  • I believe us women should look out for each other and we should appreciate our own worth. Let us support, inspire and enlighten one another.
  • During the same time period, Madonna was seen wearing a custom Gucci jacket that had the greek word Euterpe (means muse of music) to an award show. This was a power move Madonna used to symbolize that she was in control of no one else.
