- What are those humans doing? Why are they cutting down all our trees?
- Forests are home to countless species and animals, from tiny insects to large mammals
- We love our home! We are so lucky we get to live in this lush forest with everything we need to survive.
- Deforestation destroys the natural habitat of animals. Many animals are forced to flee their homes, leaving them vulnerable to predators and without access to food and water.
- Where are we going to live now? The humans destroyed our home, we have nothing left.
- Im scared!
- I wonder where all our forest friends are. I hope they're okay, we haven't seen any of them since we fled our home.
- Deforestation also leads to a loss of biodiversity, as entire species are wiped out or pushed to the brink of extinction. Some scientists say we are already in the midst of a mass extinction episode.
- At a point when trees are burned, this carbon gets back into the climate as carbon dioxide. Since there will be fewer trees to absorb the carbon dioxide, it builds up in the atmosphere and accelerates global warming.
- Deforestation can bring about more carbon dioxide being delivered into the environment since trees take in carbon dioxide from the air for photosynthesis and carbon is locked chemically into their wood.
- They are not aware of the full consequences of deforestation. But all humans should be educated.
- More immediately, the loss of trees from a forest can leave soil more prone to erosion. This causes the remaining plants to become more vulnerable to fire as the forest shifts from being a closed, moist environment to an open, dry one.
