Storyboard-Text

  • The MedQuarters device is a fully developed, patented, adherence system that will improve patient outcomes.
  • Let's see how it works
  • This is Bill, he's 63 years old and has COPD, he has been hospitalized twice in the past year with breathing problems
  • Bill takes 4 prescription pills once each day, another pill he takes twice each day and he also uses an inhaler once each day
  • No wonder he gets confused and often misses doses
  • His health insurance company notices that Bill doesn't get refills as often as he should-so they send him a MedQuarters device in the mail
  • Bill sets it up quickly and easily by downloading an app from the App Store and entering his information
  • When it's time for Bill's morning pills, he receives an alarm call or a text message asking him if he wants to take his pills now. He goes to his MedQuarters device and the built in blue tooth antenna connects with his phone or tablet
  • When he presses "Take now" the carousel spins, the door unlocks and the first pill bottle is accessible. Bill removes it from the MedQuarters and takes out a pill.
  • When he replaces the vial the MedQuarters senses that it is replaced, the door closes, the carousel spins, the door opens and the second medication is revealed. Bill does this until all 5 of his morning pills have been taken.
  • Removing the vial and replacing it is our surrogate marker for Bill actually taking the pill. These data are sent via the app to the Health insurance company, to the electronic health record at Bill's primary care physician and to his 30 year old daughter.
  • In addition to the MedQuarters, Bill's health insurance company has assigned a Case Management Nurse to coordinate his care. Bill's nurse looks at a MedQuarters dashboard on her computer, she can see that Bill has been good at taking his pills lately,
  • However another patient Edward has not been so diligent. She calls Edward and says "Ted, I see that you haven't taken your morning medication for a couple of days. Is anything wrong"
