- In the introduction, we will see that Dr. Charles is shocked because baby Rosso is not blue like everyone but red. They live in a society where everyone is blue and very few people are red. Both Rosso's parents are blue so they had no idea how their baby turned out red.
- We see that there is a fence separating the blue and the red. The 3 blue kids are making fun of Rosso because he is of different skin color. Rosso is crying because he is all alone and has nobody to talk to. He is alone all the time because he knows nobody else that is Red and all the blue people bully him.
- At the end of the story, we see Rosso trying to hurt himself because he is depressed and he believes that what everyone said is true. He thinks he is worthless and that nobody loves him. He thought he was going crazy because he kept hearing a voice behind the tree. He was far from crazy. Rosso sees something red coming his way and he drops the knife. Standing in front of him was a girl older than him but she wasn't blue she was red.
