  • Yes sure is it okay for you to come with me I wil dicuss it to you.
  • Hi there! I'm Maricel, your new neighbor. By the way I'm a medical geneticists for almost 10 years.
  • Hi doctor, I'm Betty, I am a dentistry student. If you don't mind can I ask you a question?
  • Okay doc,  let's go.
  • Continue to walk...
  • Your welcome my dear.
  • Dr. Maricel thank you for making time and inviting me to have a cup of coffee with you.
  • Any pattern of heredity in which features do not segregate according to Mendel's rules is known as Non-Mendelian inheritance. These principles describe how features associated to single genes on chromosomes in the nucleus are passed down through generations. Each parent contributes one of two potential alleles for a trait in Mendelian inheritance.
  • Here's my concern doctor, I'm struggling  about my genetic subject and our lesson is about Non-Mendelian Inheritance, can you please give me more detailed information about it doctor?
  •  The types of Non-Mendelian Inheritance are: codominance, incomplete dominance, multiple alleles, lethal alleles, epistasis, sex-linked inheritance and polygenic traits.
  • So Dr. Maricel what are the types of Non-Mendelian Inheritance?
  • Sure, so first Lethal alleles, often known as lethal genes, are alleles that cause the death of the organism that carries them. They can cause an organism's death and can show up early in development.
  • Second, A trait that is sex related is one in which a gene is found on the sex chromosome. The phrase refers to features that are impacted by genes on the X chromosome in humans. Because the X chromosome is larger and includes many more genes than the Y chromosome, this is the case.
  • Lastly,  In genetics, epistasis occurs when the effect of a gene mutation is influenced by the presence or absence of mutations in one or more additional genes, referred to as modifier genes. To put it another way, the mutation's effect is determined by the genetic background in which it arises.
  • Dr. Maricel there are many types of Non-Mendelian Inheritance, can you atleast explain to me what is lethal alleles,  sex-linked inheritance and epistasis.
  • Your always welcome Betty, I enjoy spending time and chatting with you. If you have questions just come to my house.
  • Thank you Dr. Maricel I learned a lot from you, those informations will be helpful for me. It's nice chatting with you Dooctor.
