- An Oxygen atom is wandering around the cold winter air trying to find a suitable partner

- Everyone seems to find someone to spend their time with, but here I am all alone. If I could only have someone with whom I could combine my 6 valence electrons to make a perfect octet…
- He’s trying to figure out what type of bond would work best and with which atom he should end up with. He’s getting really worried about it until something comes to mind.
- O
- I should try to make a covalent bond because atoms that usually form this types of bonds have low boiling and melting points so therefore it will be easier for me to find another gas.
- And there it was the most gorgeous Oxygen atom he had ever seen. He was all alone, probably also looking for someone to bond with.

- Considering that we both have 6 valence electrons and we both want a complete outer layer we don’t have enough. Unless we shared two pairs… If we both share 2 electrons it would be like having 8 valence electrons and a full outermost energy level!

- Absolutely it’d be my pleasure! I will finally be able to be in a covalent bond because molecules are the smallest unit they can form!

- Sorry to disappoint, but covalent compounds tend to be bad conductors of both heat and electricity.

- Do you think we are able to conduct electricity? Because our relationship definitely seems electric.
