- We are gathered here today to discuss the origins and meaning of our fantastic religion, Greek Mythology
- Good evening followers!
- I am Homer, the author of the Iliad and the Oddesy, and considered one of the people responsible for the founding of the Ancient Greek Religion
- At the same time, I also wrote the books The Iliad and The Oddesy. Both these books teach respect and history about the Gods and their histories.
- In around 700BC, an amazing poet by the name of Hesiod wrote the first written origin story of Greek Mythology. The book is known as 'Hesiod's Theogony'
- Each God plays a big role in their own part of the physical world. For example, Zeus is God of Gods and of the sky and Poseidon is God of the sea
- In our religion, we have 12 main Gods known as The Olympians, and 400 minor Gods. This makes our religion Polytheistic, meaning we have belief in many gods.
- Since then, these stories have taken off, and will continue to. We are predicting that this line of belief will find itself traveling to Rome!
- The belief of these Gods started from stories told in the Minoan civilization of Crete.
