Rainsford is the main character of the story and he looks like one of the pirates you see in movies except he is actually a good guy, he has a pipe in his mouth and he is old. From the story we can tell that Rainsford is a brave and determined person because of the way he never gave up, even when he was faced with an unknown territory and threatened to die he didn't give up and he is determined because he knows he is at a disadvantage being hunted by a guy who knows these woods like the back of his head and which he also has a gun.
Trait of the main character
Theme
The meaning of the story is about animals and humans, the way that we are similar and we wouldn't like it if we were in their place, being hunted by animals. This also comes to tell that we shouldn't abuse killing animals and only do it when needed, not for sport. Even if they can't reason, you can tell that they are being hunted and they don't wanna die.
Author's Tone
The author intended the story be a dark and suspenseful story because if you think about it, killing animals fo sport and just in general just seems wrong and shouldn't be a nice happy thing because we are taking their lives when we need it and that is very selfish.
