- Discovery of the Egg

- One night deep in the forest a 15 year old boy hunts for a hurt deer. To his surprise, a smooth blue stone appears in a cloud of smoke. The boy named Eragon picks up the stone and decides to bring it home with him. A few days later, the stone cracks open to reveal a blue baby dragon. Eragon realizes that he is now a legendary dragon-rider like those from the past.
- The Death of Brom
- A few months after the dragon Saphira has hatched, two strangers ride in to town. They find out about the "stone" that Eragon has and go to his farm where is uncle is. Eragon wants to warn his uncle about these strangers but Saphira fly's him away to safety. When Eragon and Saphira get to the farm the bext day, it is burnt down and Eragon's uncle is almost dead. Soon after Eragon gets him to a healer, he dies.
- Finding the Varden
- Seeking revenge for his uncle's death, Eragon leaves with Saphira to go and hunt down the strangers. Before they leave town, the old storyteller Brom knows that Eragon is a dragon-rider and offers to help him with his quest. Eragon and Saphira agree and they start on their long journey. Brom teaches Eragon about dragons and magic, he also tells Eragon that the things they are hunting are called Raz'ac.
- The Great Battle
- Long into their trip, Eragon and Brom finally find the Raz'ac in a great city. They soon must flee from the Raz'ac because they have soilders with them and are to much for Eragon and Brom. Soon the Raz'ac catch up and kill Brom before a man named Murtaugh, who is also hunting the Raz'ac, is able to help in time. Saphira and Eragon are told before Brom dies that he was a dragon-rider before. He also tells them to find the Varden, a rebel group that goes against the empire.
- Soon into Eragon, Murtaugh, and Saphira's adventure to the Varden, Eragon is taken to a prison by monsters called Urgals that work for the king. There Eragon finds a sick elf called Arya who tells him where the Varden are hinding in a far away mountain. Murtaugh and Saphira rescue Eragon and Arya, but before they escape, Eragon goes into a battle with a magic user called Durza that wants to bring him to the king. Eragon escapes the Shade and the company goes to the Varden.
- When the company gets to the Varden, they heal Arya and welcome them all. Soon a army of Urgals are spotted and a battle begins in the mountain tunnels. Eragon fights on the back of Saphira, and the dwarves and Varden armies fight for their lives. When Eragon is separated from Saphira, the Shade Durza comes to fight Eragon. Eragon ends up killing the Shade after a long fight and the Varden win the battle.
