- Hello Lucy! I have a question. Since you are blind and cook in the kitchen, how is the folks kitchenware knife you use different from other knives?
- Oh thats a good question! the knife that i use is different from normal knives because there is a retractable guard on it which helps guide my fingers on where im cutting so its easier and safer for me. This guard is easy to remove and clean so it can be safe to use.
- Well, the designer of this invention is Kevin Chiam and his inspiration was a blind chef named Christine Ha. Chef Christine Ha would cook like a master in the kitchen without any help even though she is blind. So Kevin created the folks kitchenware knife for the blind to increase confidence in them to attempt cooking by beating the physical and mental barriers that come with cooking. Also this invention helps blind people to cook with safety in mind and not being afraid to cut themselves.
