- I started at this elementery school in Grade 5 when I had just moved to Canada from St Vincent.

- The first time I met Dee was at recess when she called me over at her table after pulling my jacket.

- I looked forward to these games with Dee, where they would mimic how I say certain words. I was the new girl, everyone else ignored me.

- In elementary, Dee was famous for her sleepovers. She had one on the first Saturday of every month. There were no curfews, the girls would drink booze and watch scary movies

- When Dee finally invited me to one of her sleepovers, everyone else had bailed. I talked to Dee's stepdad while Dee was getting drunk.

- Now we're in Grade 11, trespassing on school property, once again. It's a Saturday afternoon and the boys soccer team is practicing next to us.

- Kyle Gaillard thinks it's more than okay

- That's impossible, Kyle's a senior. He's an athlete and only dates pompoms. I'm invisible to him.

- I knew Dee was up to something. I tried to be casual but my insides were filling up. The pressure of not knowing what's coming pushes against my stomach and chest

- At the soccer field
- This has to be a setup, another one of Dee's practical jokes. Is Kyle in on it?

- Hi there Dee. Hi Nellie
- So, Nellie was wondering why you're asking about her

- Why did she always have to comment on my hair? Was I really that different? She could always find the perfect way to embarass me.

- That would be the last time I talk to Kyle. And for Dee, we eventually grew apart. I still think about her every now and then.
