  • Irrigation and Farming
  • Mesopotamia was situated in the fertile valleys between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the region is now home to modern-day Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, and Syria. It had rich soil so it was a very good place to plant crops and make farms.
  • Invasion
  • The main problem of Mesopotamia was flooding, melting snows from Zagros Mountains pour out to their crops during growing season. But, they made dams to prevent the flooding, and also make channels to irrigate the dry lands and to save water when needed.
  • Religion
  • From the irrigation that they did, they made more farms so that they can have more food. thus resulting in them having a surplus of food products.
  • End of Mesopotamia
  • Mesopotamia became attractive to neighboring people and its lack of natural protection like mountains made them an easy target for invasion. Several invaders came, and many times rulers were replaced. Dynasties did come and go. There were always threats of invasion.
  • Mesopotamian religion was polytheistic, with followers worshipping several main gods and thousands of minor gods. The three main gods were Ea (Sumerian: Enki), the god of wisdom and magic, Anu (Sumerian: An), the sky god, and Enlil (Ellil), the god of earth, storms and agriculture and the controller of fates.
  • Babylonian culture is considered to have ended under Persian rule, following a slow decline of use in cuneiform and other cultural hallmarks. By the time Alexander the Great conquered the Persian Empire in 331 B.C., most of the great cities of Mesopotamia no longer existed and the culture had been long overtaken.
