- we should make pizzas. i love pizzas. mmm. pizza very good.  i want pizza give pizza
- son, we have 2 guests coming over tomorrow. what should we make?
- I dont know, mom. I can't do the math cause goo goo gah gah I'm a child
- ok. if we give everybody 3 slices of pizza and we have 4 people in total what does that equal to?
- ok Jamal. 3 x 4 = 12, that means we will need 12 slices in total. if we make 3 pizzas there must be 4 slices in each. Jamal I thought I thought you direct proportions?
- You did mom. but I am too lazy to do this therefore i merely lied to you so that you do the math
- yes of course we did! may I ask how  direct proportions work?
- its very easy actually. If one side increases, the other increases at the same rate.

- let me make this easier to understand with an example. If you need 4 cups of sugar to make 8 cookies, how many wood it take to make 24 cookies? 24 divided by 8 is 3 so we will multiply 3 with the 4 cups of sugar which is 12. so we need 12 cups of sugar to make 24 cookies.
