- There was a man named Ulrich von Gradwitz who was hunting for a human enemy in the eastern Carpathian Mountains on a winter night. His grandfather won the court and took the land from the neighboring Znaeym. But, it became a neighbor feud, because Znaeym’s family did not accept the court’s decision and continued hunting in the forest.
- On a cold winter night, Ulrich and his men were looking through the forest, and he met Znaeym, man to man. They had a rifle, and it was a chance to kill each other.
- Suddenly, a large tree branch fell over their heads, and they found themselves stretched on the ground. There was blood in Ulrich’s eye, and also Znaeym was unable to move. They needed help.
- They were angry that each other didn't died, and they cursed each other. But later, Ulrich tried to shared a drink, and thought the fight was foolish. He wanted to make friends with Georg and wanted to help.
- They became friends with each other and waited for people to help them. They shouted for help when the wind stopped.
- Then they saw people to help them. They were happy, but soon became terrified. It was wolves, not humans, that were coming for them.
