- Hello! Can I get water and I think I'd like to try the tuna sushi!
- Hi! What can I get you today?
- Thank you so much waiter
- Here's your sushi!
- OH NO! I threw up. I think it's because of the raw fish from the sushi I had.
- Later that day...
- The girl is trying sushi at this restaurant that she's never eaten at before.-Before conditioning-
- Ew- mom are you making fish. It smells kind of fishy in here.
- Hey Honey! Yeah...I'm making shrimp for dinner.
- She enjoys the food, but later gets feeling of sickness. The sushi that contained raw fish is the unconditioned stimulus.
- Not again! I never want to eat fish in my ENTIRE life!!
- She vomits after eating the food due to the raw fish (She probably got food poisoning). Her vomiting is the unconditioned response.-During Conditioning-
- I made you sushi instead honey.
- WHAT. You made sushi... I'll just skip dinner tonight
- This is an example of generalization. She is able to respond to a stimulus (the shrimp that smells fishy) because it's similar (in smell) to the CS (the sushi with tuna)
- The smell of seafood from the previous scene is an example of conditioned stimuli. Her vomiting after smelling seafood is the conditioned response.
- This panel shows after conditioning. She is now unsettled with the smell or though of seafood.
