- Hey Jerry, do you know what the Scientific Method is?
- Ummm. I think I have heard that word before.
- I will explain it to you.
- Okay, thank you.
- The first step is to ask a question. This means that you come up with an idea to do your project on.
- Our question should be, "Which popcorn pops the fastest, Pop-Secret or Orville Redenbacher's ?"
- Then you do research. I have found that Orville Redenbacher's has 10 less calories then Pop-Secret.
- Wow then I need to slow down on how much Pop-Secret I eat. No wonder it has the word secret in it.
- Your third step is to make your hypothesis. My hypothesis is, if I put Pop-Secret in the microwave for two minutes and fifty seconds then it will pop faster then Orville Redenbacher's.
- I agree with your hypothesis.
- Now we have to test our hypothesis.
- This is always my favorite part.
- We need to get the Pop- Secret popcorn and put it in the microwave for two minutes and fifty seconds.
- Yes that is correct, you seem like you are starting to understand it.
- After we get done with the Pop- Secret then we record our data and do the same with the Orville Redenbacher's, right?
- Now it is time to analyze our results. What does your notebook say Jerry?
- I recorded that the Pop- Secret popped in two minutes and twenty seconds, and the Orville Redenbacher's used up all two minutes an fifty seconds.
- Well it seems that our hypothesis is correct.
- Of course it is, I mean you came up with it and you are good at the scientific method.
- If you put Pop- Secret it will pop faster than Orville Redenbacher's because the amount of butter makes it pop faster.
- Hey, it seems like those extra calories are not so bad after all, then agaibn they help my favorite popcorn pop faster.
- Now that we are done we can eat all this popcorn.
- Looks like I will be getting a little extra calories today. We need might need some more, because I really like popcorn.
