- Horatio and the guards see a ghost who resembles the king who died. They are scared the ghost dosen't speak to them at all.
- Claudius is explaining to Hamlet why he married his mother Gertrude. But hamlet doesn't agree with this marriage.
- Laertes leaves for France . He tells Ophelia to not take everything seriously about what hamlet tells her . Polonius doesn't want her to see hamlet again.
- The ghost appears again and wants to talk with hamlet so he tells the guard to leave them alone so they can talk privately. But the guards dont want to leave him alone .
- Hamlet finds out that the ghost is his dad , and that his own brother claudis killed him with poison . The ghost wants hamlet to get revenge and kill claudis .
- Hamlet tells the guards to keep all this a secret to not tell anyone about it .
