- Amelia and Betsy are arguing with each other after Amelia says that books are bad and Betsy disagrees with her. This is an example of person vs person because Amelia and Betsy are arguing.
- Lyddie is going to meet Diana but the other girls try to stop her by telling her about how Diana is a radical. This is an example of person vs society because Diana is a radical who believes in things that are not normal in society and she gets judged for it.
- Lyddie is walking back to the Tavern after visiting her house in Vermont. Lyddie is debating with herself whether she should go to the Mills and earn more money to pay her debt, or go back to the tavern. this is an example of person vs self because Lyddie is having to debate within herself to make her decision.
