- Hi I am Squilliam, and as my college Sandy said before me, Free labor didn't give free liberty
- I am Abraham Lincoln and i said in an article " “My first impulse would be to free all the slaves and send them to Liberia—to their native land. But a moment's reflection would convince me that whatever high hope (as I think there is) there may be in this in the long run, 1 sudden execution is impossible(Abraham Lincoln 1854, Page 370).”
- What he meant was that African Americans in this source were not given free labor but instead many people especially people in the southern states believed slavery should stay in place, so African Americans had no free labor or even rights in this time.
- Its me Stephen again and i said " Stephen Douglas also states “ I am in favor of confining citizenship to white men, men of European birth and descent, instead of conferring it upon Negroes, Indians, and other inferior races. (''Good for you," "Douglas forever.") (Stephen Douglas, 1858, pg. 314)“
- This exposes even more on how colored people couldn't have free labor or liberty. They were forced to work so they didnt have free labor which means that they couldn't possibly have liberty.
- So our question, Did free labor give free labor? No it did not and now we saw why. Thnak you for reading. :)
