- "Just as the Grievers' arm extended out to nip at them, Minho and Thomas dove in opposite directions, each toward one of the outer walls of the corridor." (Dashner 138)
- Throughout The Maze Runner, Thomas has moments where being agile is important. When facing a griever, he uses his strength and agility so he can withstand the grievers power.
- "Pulsing with adrenaline, Thomas drew his legs together and pulled them tight against his chest. as soon as he made contact with the grievers body, disgustingly sinking inches into its gushy skin, he kicked out with both feet to push off,squirming to avoid the swarm of needles and clawscoming at him from all directions. He swung his body out and to the left;then he jumped towards the wall of the maze; the vicious grievers tool snapped and clawed him from behind." (Dashner 132)
- Thomas is an adventurous character. Since the beginning of the story, he's always wanted to be a runner even though he knew the risks.

- In the beginning of The Maze Runner, Thomas was confused and didn't remember anything from before he got to the Glade. After meeting the some of the Glader's, he made friends with Minho, Chuck, Newt, Frypan, and others. Soon after getting to the Maze he started to realize something about how the Glade works and was set out to solve it.
- "Thomas was hit with a blaze of confusion, blistered with panic. The voices were off, tinged with an echo; some of the words were completely foreign-others felt familiar."(Dashner 3)
- CURIOUS
- "Thomas knew he was a smart kid- he somehow felt it in his bones. But nothing about this place made any sense. Except for one thing. He was supposed to be a Runner. Why did he feel that so strongly? And even now, after seeing what lived in the maze?”(Dashner 39)
- Thomas understands that he has a purpose in the maze, and it's to be a runner so he can help his friends. Although he knows there are dangers in the maze, he would still take the risk.
- I have a feeling that i should be a runner.
- RELIEVED
- "Thomas laughed again, in disbelief that such a thing could be possible so soon after what they'd gone through.'She's right,Chuck- you saved us man! I told you we needed you!' Thomas scrambled to his feet and joined a group hug, almost delirious. (Dashner 347)
- When Thomas and the others beat the maze, they were all relieved, especially Thomas. He put in lots of hard work during the days he was in the glade, and he even went through the changing (Which is the cure to a griever sting) just on his third day of being there.
