- I grew up in Muscat, Oman. The landscape is characterized by the al-Hajar mountains to the south-ish and the Gulf of Oman to the north-ish.My mother is my role-model, with many endeavors, most notably in NGO work. The positive impact she has on the thousands of people and their livelihood has always prompted me to want to do good and make a positive impact in the world.
- I got my B.A. in Int' Relations and Economics from Boston University. Throughout my studies and 2 years later, I completed several internships. What they all had in common, unintentionally, was the topic of climate change. In my final 2 internships (in the US before moving back home for a year) at established think tanks in Washington, D.C., I realized the importance of climate change and its implications on basically everything in this world, and realized that this is what I wanted to pursue. It also aligns with the my mother's impact on me -- positive contribution.
- Here I am today: In SUMA, in New York City. In one year, I have learned so much and feel comfortable with the career I intend to pursue. I imagine my career to take many forms and evolve over time, but I know that I want to start doing corporate sustainability / ESG consulting until I find a specific sector to continue working in. Corporations and the private sector have a large impact and I want to be part of their transition to more sustainable practices and decisions. Finance and clean energy play a big role and I am looking forward to learning more about them in this class.
