Storyboard-Text

  • On October 23, 2019, Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York 10th Congressional district, came up with an idea that would allow for foreign-born children of U.S armed service members or government employees to automatically acquire U.S citizenship even if they don't reside in the U.S. Rep. Nadler introduced the bill by placing it into the hopper and naming it HR 4803.
  • I have an idea that could help foreign born kids of U.S armed service members and government employees
  • I like that idea, you should introduce it to the house.
  • On the same day (October 23, 2019) the bill was then sent to the House Committee. The committee decided to pass it, and on December 3, 2019, the bill was then sent to the House floor to be debated amongst the 435 Representatives in the House. After 40 minutes of debate, the HR 4803 bill was voted by through a voice vote and passed the House.
  • I like this idea of this bill lets pass it on.
  • yea
  • Say "yea" or "nay" if you are/aren't in favor of HR 4803
  • yea
  • After the bill passed the House, on December 4, 2019 it was sent to the Senate and received.
  • Here's the bill
  • I like this bill we should keep it as it is
  • On March 5, 2020, the bill was sent to the Senate judiciary committee. The committee decided to keep the bill and passed to the Senate floor.
  • I agree it's great how it is, lets pass it to the Senate floor.
  • The same day (March 5, 2020) the bill was sent to the Senate floor where 100 senators debated and voted on the bill. The vote was by unanimous consent, and in identical form as the House (no changes were made). The bill passed and was sent to the President.
  • I request unanimous consent on this bill.
  • I don't object, lets get this passed and sent to the president.
  • On March 16, 2020, the bill was presented to the president, and Trump later signed the bill and it became law on March 26, 2020. The bill (now law) is referred to as the Citizenship for Children of Military Members and Civil Servants Act.
  • What are your thoughts on this bill Mr. President. Should children of service members and government employees be guaranteed U.S Citizenship?
  • I'm in favor of this bill and will sign it into law.
