- Fact: He was named to Texas Explorer because he was the one who explored Texas the most and the first on to explore Texas
- He went to Texas to find gold and he did, but shortly after he told a group, so they started going to Texas to search for gold.
- Pineda continued his journey westward, and one of the regions he explored and mapped was the area around Corpus Christi Bay
- Under attack from Florida's Indians, Cabeza de Vaca and a number of other men sailed a makeshift barge westward, hoping to find a Spanish settlement in Mexico. Along the way, the men became the first Europeans to cross the mouth of the Mississippi River.
