- In 1975, Black South Africans students where forced to learn Math and Social Studies all in Afrikaans it made things difficult. They had poor eduction it was hard when apartheid was going on so the students and the teachers and protest about the new rules they had it was their last straw. In 1976 on April 30th The students in Orlando West that went on strike and they would refuse to not go to school.
- Deaths

- They where singing -apartheid songs soon after they attracted attention from the police that where non-colored the police didn't like it one bit they arrest people and killed colored people. their where 20,000 students that took part in the strike and along with the organizer Tsietsi Mashinini.
- Aftermath

- Some police officers shot into the air which made the children/students start to worry then they started to shoot. They killed a 13 year old boy named Hector Peterson who became popular and well known there is a museum about him new papers still till this day.
- Riots Break Out
- There was around 175 people that died in the riot most of them being colored and only 2 people being non-colored. There was 1,200 injured and there was tons of children in blood. The Police wanted the hospital to have a list of the people that got shot with bullets but the doctor said no.
- Soweto Uprising is one of the popular events against apartheid. today the Soweto Uprising is celebrated as a holiday in South Africa. Even though many where killed or injured they got through but still are struggling.
- Police made a peaceful string that turn into a big riot that went on for 4 days. 175 people died all of them where black and 2 non colored people. The riot made lots of dead people or have lots of injuries.
