- The City of Ember - Written by Jeanne DuPrau is about a post apocalyptic underground city. It was made to last 2 centuries. Are characters must find a way to save the city before its to late.
- CLIMAX
- When kids turn 18 and graduate high school they receive a job. Lina works as a messenger, a job she enjoys a lot while her friend Doon works in the pipe works. There Doon will try to figure out why there has been more power outages than usual.
- FALLING ACTION
- While Doon is in the pipe works he finds out no one but the great builders knows how the generator works. Lina on the surface find out that in storage there is not much food and vitamins left and will only last the people a couple months if not less.
- RESOLUTION
- Later Lina finds a ripped up piece of paper that seems to be written from the great builders. She asks her friend Doon to help her try to decipher the paper. Mean while more power outages are happening and things are looking bad for the city.
- After deciphering most of the note they find a hidden room with boats, matches, and candles. Lina tells the guards about their discovery but instead of being rewarded, they are wanted for spreading rumors. Now they must flee the city on there own.
- After some drama with another power outage they make it into the boat room along with Lina's little sister poppy. They take the boats and ride it all the way down (the water). They journey a little farther until the make it to the outside world full of lush greenness.. To be continued
